Update: part 2

Well, yesterday was not fun. Why is it that I got an anesthesiologist for my five-minute surgery, but when I was in surgery of three hours I didn't get one? Whatever. I had three nurses trying six times in the same arm to get my IV running. They finally listened to me and tried my right arm and got it on the first try. And I say again--whatever. I was on that table in partial consciousness for three hours while they tried absolutely everything to pull that catheter out and they just couldn't get it out. Now it looks like major surgery with Dr. Dharan (whom I just love). I actually felt bad for this poor doctor because he and the two nurses came out with me just looking totally beat. I must say my poor wig wasn't doing so hot either--I had to make them stop while I fixed it up before we went back to my room :)
I'm hoping to get the surgery done next week during my second week of vacation because I don't want to take off any time from work away from my students that I love.
Please keep me in your prayers for complete healing, this next surgery and the mammo results I'm still waiting for! Thanks so much everyone!

Another update

Sorry I haven't had the chance to email each of you back yet. I had half of the surgery this morning. They thought for a while that snaring the catheter out of my lung wasn't going to work, but after a CT scan, they decided they would do that part tomorrow morning. So "Surgery: part 2" is tomorrow at 11:00. Yeah--three IVs in four days--wow. Anyway, the first part was a breeze, but tomorrow will definitely be more complicated.
In other news, my PET scan results were not much. Nothing has changed. The size and activity is basically the same as it was before the last three chemo treatments. Not exactly the news I had wanted, but nothing is growing, so we are stopping chemo. We will just be observing things month to month and IF anything decides to grow, we will use radiation. Things are stable and I am fine. Please do keep me in your thoughts and prayers for tomorrow's procedure and continued healing in general. I truly appreciate the support you all have given me.

December 27, 2006

Just to quickly update you on where I'm at right now. I had a PET scan yesterday (expect results tomorrow or Friday) and a mammogram today (not sure when I will have those results). I'm having surgery tomorrow (it just got moved to 12:00 noon) to remove my broken port. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers for both the surgery and especially the test results. I have complete faith that all will be good...
